Why detox and exfoliate?
Product buildup, oils, dead skin and pollution form a film that traps microbes and blocks follicles. Regular, gentle exfoliation or deep scalp cleansing clears the surface so treatments penetrate and the scalp can breathe.
Safe Deep Cleansing and Exfoliation Methods
Physical Scrubs: Using a fine grit scrub or sugar based scalp scrub blended with a gentle carrier oil or base like jojoba oil or aloe vera gel. You would use your finger tips (never your nails as they can damage follicles) and massage in a circular motion for 30-60 seconds per area. Limit to once weekly at most depending on scalp condition and sensitivity.
Deep Cleansing: This deep cleanse uses diluted apple cider vinegar. But my favorite apple cider vinegar to use is one that has been infused with herbs most aligned with what is going on with your scalp and what you desire to experience with your hair. Take this herbal apple cider vinegar and dilute 1 part herbal acv to 3 parts distilled water or aloe vera juice or coconut water. After washing your hair, use this rinse throughout your hair and scalp and leave on for between 5mins to 30mins then rinse out and follow up with conditioner. Limit to once every 2-4 weeks
Dry Brushing: A soft scalp brush before shampooing boosts circulation and loosens flakes; follow with a gentle wash.
Don't combine these methods as that can be very harsh to your scalp, try one at a time to see what method works best.

Herbal Detox Routines
Herbal Detox Teas: Internally, herbs that can support liver and lymphatic detox can reduce systemic contributors to scalp issues. These herbs include dandelion root and burdock root. Which our Scalp Detox tea is blended with along with other supporting and nourishing herbs. Drink the tea blend 1-3 cups daily depending on scalp condition and medications currently taking. It may also be used as a tea rinse externally. Also minimize the amount of gluten, breads and sugars in your daily diet as this will contradict the teas effectiveness and your scalps healing.
Clay Masks: Bentonite or Kaolin clay draws oil and impurities. Mix together with distilled water, apple cider vinegar or herbal apple cider vinegar. Do NOT use a metal utensil to mix. Mix to a yogurt like consistency and apply to hair focusing on scalp and hair, leave on for 15-45 mins then rinse well.
